The mC-Print3 is a compact, thermal receipt printer. This article will show you the different ways to set up the mC-Print3 with talech Register and other point-of-sale devices.

    This printer is compatible with 80mm standard thermal paper rolls, with a maximum roll diameter of 83mm.

    USB set up for talech Register

    If you are using the printer with the talech Register, follow the steps below. 

    1. Use the included USB cable to connect the USB-A side to one of the four USB ports on the talech Register.

    1. Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the back of the receipt printer in the USB-C slot.

    1. Accept the permissions pop up that appears on the talech Register for the receipt printer.

     Connect to iOS device

    The printer can connect to an iOS device either via an MFi compatible USB cable or via Bluetooth depending on your setup.

     

    Note: The USB to Lightning or USB-C to USB-A iOS cables are not included with the Star Micronics mC-Print3. The iOS cables used must be Apple Inc.'s genuine product or an MFi certified product. If you use a non-MFi certified cable to make a connection, data communication or charging may fail

    Connect printer via USB to iOS device

    1. Connect the USB-A side of the cable to the iOS specific USB-A slot on the Star Micronics printer.

    1. Connect the Lightning or USB-C cable to the iOS device (depending on which type of connection the device uses).

    Connect printer via Bluetooth to iOS device   

    1. Start by ensuring the mC-Print3 is powered on. When powered on, the mC-Print3 is discoverable over Bluetooth. 
    2. Open your iPad's Settings app and select Bluetooth. If necessary, turn Bluetooth on. 
    3. The printer should appear as a nearby Bluetooth device, with the name (mC-Print3-XXXXX.) 
    4. Select the printer to begin the pairing attempt. If pairing is successful, Connected will be displayed next to the device name.

    Connect to the Poynt C

    The Poynt C is compatible with the Star Micronics mC-Print3 receipt printer.

    1. Use the included USB cable to connect the USB-C end into the printer and the USB-A end into one of the USB ports on the Poynt C base.
    2. Connect the Poynt C device to the base.
    3. Accept any permissions pop-ups that appear asking to allow the USB connection. You are now ready to print!
    Note: To use the printer, the Poynt C must be connected to the dock. Printing does not work if the device is being held remotely away from the base.

    Set up as an order printer

    To set the mC-Print3 as a general order printer e.g., for a coffee dock, follow these steps. Ensure that you set it up in an area that does not have extreme heat as the thermal paper for the printer will darken in high heat. 

    Orders can be sent from the Register app to printers based on their Tag(s) or Category.

    1. From the Dashboard, select Back Office > Settings > Printers.
    2. Select the mC-Print3 as the desired Order printer.
    3. Select either Categories or Tags.
    4. Select each Category and/or Tag that you would like this printer to print order receipts for. A check mark will appear on the right to show it's selected.
    5. Select Back. 
    6. Select Save.

    You can test the printer by opening talech Register and creating a new order. Select Send to dispatch an order to the order printer.

    Network Set Up

    If you are using the printer with a wired network set up, you can follow the steps below.

    1. Unpack the Star Micronics mC-Print3 printer.
    2. Insert the paper roll into the printer.
    3. Connect the Ethernet/LAN cable into the back of the printer.
    4. Connect the other end of the Ethernet/LAN cable to the router or outlet on the wall.

    Printing an IP address

    If you are using the wired network set up, you may need the IP address of the printer

    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. While holding down the FEED button, press and release the POWER button.
    3. Release the FEED button once self-printing has started.
