Buddy wasn’t always a badger in a banker’s vest. He grew up in the burrows just outside a small southeastern Pennsylvania town, the youngest of seven in a family of hardworking, practical badgers who ran a modest general store. Watching his parents wrestle with ledgers, loans, and late-night worry over cash flow left a mark on young Buddy—he decided early on that no small business owner should have to feel that lost when it came to money.
The Early Years
Buddy dug his way into the financial world over three decades ago, starting as a teller at a regional community bank. He had a knack for numbers and an even bigger knack for explaining them—customers who came in confused about interest rates or overdraft fees left his window feeling like they’d just talked to an old friend who happened to know finance inside and out.
The Software Chapter
In his mid-career years, Buddy pivoted into banking software development, helping build the digital tools that small banks and credit unions used to serve their communities. He learned to speak two languages fluently: the language of finance, and the language of code. This gave him a rare gift—he could see exactly where technology was failing small business owners, and he made it his mission to fix those gaps.
The Insurance Detour
Curious and always eager to round out his expertise, Buddy spent several years in the insurance industry, learning the ins and outs of risk, liability, and protection. He often jokes that this chapter taught him “the fine print nobody reads, so you don’t have to.”
Coming Home to Community Banking
Eventually, Buddy found his way back to his roots—helping local businesses directly. Combining his tech background, insurance know-how, and decades of banking wisdom, he became the go-to badger for small business owners looking to save money, avoid unnecessary fees, and make smarter financial decisions.
