In this article 

Overview

The HR2081BT scanner comes with two cords.

  • A USB dongle that plugs into a USB-A port.
  • A USB charging cable with a USB-A side for connecting to a power source and a USB-B end for plugging into the scanner.

Connect scanner to talech Register

  1. Assemble the stand for the barcode scanner and place the scanner in the stand.   
  2. Connect the scanner’s USB dongle into one of the blue USB-A ports on the talech Register. 
  3. Connect the USB-A side of the charging cable into one of the USB-A ports on the back of the talech Register.  
  4. Connect the USB-B side of the charging cable into the scanner. Please allow the scanner to charge for at least 4 hours.  

 

Note: The light on the scanner will change from red to green once fully charged.  
  1. Once fully charged, go to the section Ready scanner for use below.

Connect scanner to iPad via mC-Print3 printer

The scanner can connect to an iPad through the mC-Print3 (MCP31) receipt printer.

  1. Assemble the stand for the barcode scanner and place the scanner in the stand. 
  2. Connect the USB-A side of the charging cable into a power source with a USB power adapter (power adapter not included). Connect the USB-B side of the charging cable into the scanner. Please allow the scanner to charge for at least 4 hours.
  3. Connect the scanner’s USB dongle into USB-A port on the back of the mC-Print3 printer.

  1. Then, connect the iPad to the printer via Bluetooth since the USB-A port is being used by the scanner.
    1. Open your iPad's Settings and select Bluetooth. If necessary, turn Bluetooth on. 
    2. The printer should appear as a nearby Bluetooth device, with the name (mC-Print3-XXXXX.) 
    3. Select the printer to begin the pairing attempt. If pairing is successful, Connected will be displayed next to the device name. 
  2. Once fully charged, go to the section Ready scanner for use below.

Ready scanner for use

  1. Once the scanner is fully charged, scan the following barcodes in this order:   
    1. Enter Setup  
    2. Restore All Factory Defaults  
    3. Exit Setup

  1. Remove the charging cable from the scanner. 

Your scanner is set up and ready to use!

Troubleshooting

Barcode scanner is not recognized by talech Register

If you are having issues with the barcode scanner being recognized by talech Register, try these troubleshooting steps.  

Reconnect the USB dongle

  1. Unplug the scanner’s USB dongle from the talech Register.    
  2. Plug the scanner’s USB dongle back in and accept any permissions pop up messages that appear on the talech Register.  
  3. The blue light should begin flashing while connecting and will become solid blue once connected.  

If you are still experiencing issues, try the steps in the next section, Log out of your store account.   

Log out of your store account

  1. From the sign in screen, select the Log Out button to log completely out of your store account on the talech Register app.

  1. Select LOG OUT on the pop-up box that appears.

  1. Log back in with your Admin credentials (email and password).
