Get to know your device
You may have the dual-screen talech Register with the customer facing display (top) or you may have the single-screen talech Register (bottom left). If you have a detached customer facing display (bottom right), it will only connect to the single-screen talech Register.

Open the device
| Note: The screen can tilt up or down to allow better access to the front panel. |
Remove the tape to initially release the front panel of the stand. To close the panel, use the provided Phillips-head screwdriver and screw. Screw is placed in the center of the panel, shown in the image on the left.
Connect accessories
All purchased accessories will be connected using the ports inside the front panel.

Connect the power
Once the front panel is open, connect the power to the talech Register by following the steps below.
- Route the power cable through the hole in the bottom of the stand.
- Route the power cable through the cable clip.
- Connect it to the power cable.
Power on the device
The device will turn on automatically after it is plugged in. If the device has been manually powered off, you can turn it back on using the power button behind the display.

Connect to the internet
Ethernet (preferred)
talech recommends using an Ethernet connection to a Wi-Fi connection.
- Connect the Ethernet cable into your router. Your make and model of router may vary.
- Connect the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the front panel of the talech Register.
Wi-Fi (optional, not preferred)
If you cannot connect to the internet using the Ethernet cable, you can always connect using a wireless signal you have access to.
Complete device setup
There are no actions required from you for these steps. Once the device checks for updates and device details, the talech application will launch automatically.
Log in
Once the talech admin login screen appears, enter your email address and talech password. This password can be found in an email from talech, titled ‘Welcome to talech’.
- If you have already reset your password, sign in with your updated password.
- If you have not reset your password, you will be able to on the next screen. Follow the steps shown on your screen to complete your account setup.
Connect the Lane 3000
- Take the USB cable included with the Lane 3000 card reader and plug in the HDMI side into the card reader.
- Plug the USB side of the cable into a red 24 V USB port on the talech Register.

Follow the instructions under USB Connection in the article Lane 3000 Overview and Setup Guide to complete the card reader setup.
| Important! You’ll need to perform a one-time update of the card reader during your first transaction which could take up to an hour. Plan on performing a test transaction to allow the card reader update. |
Load Receipt Printer Paper
Below are the instructions to load the printer paper into the receipt printer. Please make sure the paper roll is facing the correct way.
- Press down on the lever to the left to open the printer hatch.
- Load the paper as shown below with the paper positioned exactly how it looks in the image.
- Close the hatch.
Connect receipt printer
- Use the included USB cable to connect the receipt printer to one of the 4 blue USB ports in the talech Register.

- Connect the USB-C end of the cable to the back of the receipt printer in the USB-C slot.
- Press the power button on the printer.
- Make sure to accept all permissions on the talech Register screen.

Connect cash drawer
Use the included cable to connect the end labeled “cash drawer” to the cash drawer and the end labeled “printer” to the printer in the port Cash Drawer/Buzzer.

Connect optional customer facing display
This customer facing display will only connect to a single screen talech Register. Please use the included USB-C cable.

Load kitchen printer paper
Skip this step if you are not using a kitchen printer. Below are the instructions to load paper into the kitchen printer. Please make sure the paper roll is facing the correct way otherwise the printer will jam.
- Slide up the indicated latch to open the printer.
- Load the paper as shown with the paper positioned exactly how it looks in the image.
- Close the hatch by pushing down on both sides of cover.
Load kitchen printer cartridge
Open the front cover of the kitchen printer. Place cartridge in the orientation shown. You can use the small black knob to tighten the cartridge ribbon. Close the front cover.
Connect kitchen printer to power and router
Router
Use the included Ethernet cable to connect one end to the kitchen printer and the other end to your network router.

Power
Connect power cable and power on the device. Wait until your printer shows a steady green Ready status light and no Error light.

Connect printers to talech Register
- On the main screen after you log into talech Register, select Back Office.
- Select Settings > Printers > Auto Detect.
If the kitchen printer is not detected in a couple minutes, you can manually add the printer by tapping the + button on the top right corner (instructions below).

To manually add your kitchen printer, you need the IP address.
- Turn off the kitchen printer. While holding the Feed button, power the printer on.
- After 2 seconds, release the Feed button.
- A few sheets of paper will print. The IP address is located at the bottom of the last page.

| Note: The kitchen printer should be connected using a static IP address. It will show as No Server -> Static on your printed sheet. If the IP address is not static, finish manually setting up the printer and then follow the instructions under Assigning a static IP address in article Star Micronics Troubleshooting. |
- From Back Office > Settings > Printers select the + button in the top right.
- Enter a Printer Name.
- Type in the IP address from the paper into the IP Address field.
- Select the printer model from the Printer Model dropdown.
- Select Save.
