Which account type is right for you?

Shared multi-store may be right for you if you have multiple locations of the same business.

For example, if you own a coffee shop with three locations, using a shared multi-store allows you to easily manage your loyalty program, customer lists, employees, and data across all your shops. This way, you create a seamless experience for your customers and streamline your operations.

Linked multi-store may be right for you if you own two or more independently operated businesses.

For example, if you own a car repair shop and a laundromat, using a linked multi-store allows you to separately manage each business’s unique customer base, products, and reporting.

Interested in switching your account type?

If you have questions on which account type you have or if you’d like to convert to a different account type, contact support@talech.com.

Note: Only a linked multi-store can be changed to a shared multi-store. A shared multi-store cannot be changed to a linked multi-store.

Feature
How it works
Reports
Each report is available on a location basis for each account type (shared or linked).
Orders
Orders are separated by location.
Customers
Shared multi-store: Customers are shared by all locations. Updates made to one location are updated to all.
Linked multi-store: The customers and house accounts will remain separated by location.
Invoices
Invoices are separated by location.
Items
For retail and restaurant business types: Using the sync feature, certain items (products, discounts, categories, modifiers, variations, gift cards, suppliers) can be synced across your locations. For more information on this feature, refer to Multi-location product sync.
For service business types: Services are unique to each location and can’t be synced.
Settings
Most settings need to be configured on a location-by-location basis. The exceptions are employees, loyalty, gift cards and house accounts.
Shared multi-store: Employees can have access to multiple locations as well as differing roles at each location. Loyalty, gift cards and house accounts are shared across locations.
Linked multi-store: Employees, loyalty, gift cards and house accounts are separated by location.

Keep your shared multi-stores aligned with multi-location synchronization

If you are using a shared multi-store account, there are three key features to maximize its potential. These features help keep your employees, roles, and products in sync, so you don’t have to manage each one independently.

Here are links to articles explaining each syncing feature.

Sync products

Follow the steps in this article to set up your products with an item # and then save changes and sync across locations: Multi-location Product Sync.

Use this article to create new or edit existing employees and assign them to multiple locations: Create or Edit an Employee.

The sync feature is under the section Location & Roles in the new/edit employee form.

Sync employee roles

Take a look at the instructions in this article to create new or edit existing employee roles and add them to your other locations: Create and Edit Employee Roles.

See the For multi-store accounts steps under the section Create an employee role.
