Equipment Help (talech) FAQ

This article will guide you through setting up your talech customer loyalty program with talech register. With talech loyalty you can offer a range of discounts to loyal customers and set multiple thresholds customers can achieve.  

Before you get started, make sure that you have the following:   

  • talech Customer Loyalty enabled on your talech account 
  • An email address and password to log into talech.com 
Important! For EU merchants, the campaign type settings are different than North America. Using the Amount Spent campaign type is not an option for the EU. Please refer to the Set up loyalty in Register or Set up loyalty on talech.com for specific details about the campaign types available.

Set up loyalty in Register 

  1. Login to talech Register and navigate to Dashboard > Back office > Settings.  
  2. Select Loyalty on the left and toggle the Loyalty Program button On.  
  3. Enter a name for the loyalty program in the Loyalty Campaign Name.

  1. Select Campaign Type to choose what type of discount campaign to create. Not all campaign types are available to EU merchants as noted in the table below.  

 

Number of Visits  
1 Visit = 1 Point  
*Amount Spent (only available in North America – not available to EU) 
$1.00 = 1 Point  
Reward Pool (only available on iOS)
Ex: If you set 1 Point = .25, then a customer spending $8 will get 8 x .25 which totals 2 Points.

Set up rewards in Register 

  1. From Back Office > Settings > Loyalty, select Rewards.  
  2. Select the + button to add a new reward.

  1. Complete the fields to create the new reward and select Save when done.  

 

New Reward Settings  
Description  
Reward Name  
Name the reward. Example: $10 off, $15 off, $20 off, etc.  
Points to Redemption  
This determines how many points a customer needs to earn before they can redeem the reward.  
Dollar Amt/Percent off  
Choose the redemption type of Dollar or Percentage when redeemed. Percentage applies to the entire order, not a single item.   
Redemption Value  
Choose the value of the redemption. Either a dollar amount or the total percentage off the entire order.

Repeat this process as many times as you need to create multiple kinds of rewards in the same loyalty program.

Advanced Settings 

Depending on the register you have, you will be able to configure different things in the advanced settings area of the loyalty program.  

iOS register

On iOS register, you can set the following options in the advanced settings.  

  • Prompt for loyalty number: Display prompt to search for or add a customer to the loyalty program.  
  • Minimum purchase amounts for rewards: Set minimum purchase for receiving reward points.  
  • Bonus Points on signup: Points awarded when joining.   

These additional settings for iOS register can be set on talech.com in the loyalty section: 

  • Maximum points allowed to accrue. 
  • Award bonus points on enrollment or after first purchase.

On Android register, you can set the following options in the advanced settings.  

  • Prompt for loyalty card activation after enrolment. 
  • Maximum points allowed to accrue. 
  • Award bonus points on enrolment or after first purchase.

Set up loyalty on talech.com 

There are two main sections to loyalty on talech.com: Edit Campaign and Rewards. Edit Campaign includes all the main settings of your loyalty program including enabling or disabling loyalty. Rewards is where you create rewards or set the point values depending on the campaign type you’ve created.  

Edit Campaign section 

  1. Log in to talech.com.  
  2. Navigate to Settings > Loyalty.  
  3. Select Edit Campaign.

  1. In the Choose Campaign Type section, select the type of loyalty program you want to create. Not all campaign types are available to EU merchants as noted in the table below. 

 

*Amount Spent (only available in North America – not available to EU) 
$1.00 = 1 Point  
Number of Visits  
1 Visit = 1 Point  
Reward Pool (only available on iOS)
1 Point is earned for every $1 spent but you set the value of each point earned in a different setting in the next section of this article.  
 
Example: If you set 1 Point = .25 cents, then a customer spending $8 will earn (8 x .25) $2 in reward points.   

 

Important! If you switch your campaign type from Amount Spent/Number of Visits to Reward Pool OR from Reward Pool to Amount Spent/Number of Visits, all loyalty point balances reset to zero. Keep this in mind if you have already set up your loyalty program with customer balances and are switching to a different campaign type. 

 

  1. Scroll down to the Campaign Settings section.  
  2. Complete the settings options for your loyalty program.  
Campaign Name 
Enter a name for the loyalty program.  
Minimum Purchase Amount 
Set a minimum purchase amount needed to earn points. 
Maximum Point Balance 
Set the maximum number of points a customer can earn.  
Bonus Points for New Members 
  • Points Awarded: Set how many points are awarded when a customer first joins your loyalty program. 
  • Time of Award: Select either to award bonus points After first purchase or After enrollment. After first purchase will award bonus points when they make their first purchase after enrolling. After enrollment will award bonus points on their enrollment. 

 

  1. Scroll down to the Enable Loyalty Campaign setting and toggle it ON.  
  2. Select Save Changes in the top right. Proceed to the Rewards section section next.

Rewards section

For Reward Pool campaigns 

 

Note: Reward Pool is only available on iOS. 
  1. Select Edit Reward near the bottom right of the Loyalty Campaign settings.

  1. Set the cash value of each point when redeemed in the 1 point is redeemed for field. Example: If you set 1 Point = .25 cents, then a customer spending $8 will earn 8 points worth $2 (8 x .25 = 2).  
  2. Select Save Changes.

For Amount Spent or Number of Visits campaign 

  1. Select Add Reward.

  1. Name the reward in the Reward Name field. Example: $10 Reward or 20% Off.  
  2. Set the number of points required to redeem this reward in the Points to Redeem field.  
  3. In the Redemption Value section, select either $ or % and enter a value that this reward will deduct off the order total.  
  4. Once done, select Create Reward.

  1. If you need to create additional rewards, select the Add Reward button and repeat these steps.

Enroll a customer in loyalty 

To have a customer take part in the loyalty program, enroll them during checkout.  

  1. Select the Customer Name field to fill in their name. Tap on Add Customer to fill in their info.

  1. Fill in the applicable contact information for the customer.  
  2. Select the Loyalty tab at the top. 
  3. Select Join
  4. Select Save.

Redeem customer’s reward points 

If a customer has a loyalty offer to redeem, the offer appears after adding the customer to an order and selecting Pay.  

  1. In an open order, select the Customer field and search for and select the customer to add them to the order.

  1. Select Pay.  
  2. Select Redeem on the reward offer the customer qualifies for and would like to use. After selecting, the redemption is applied to the order.

Edit a customer’s loyalty points 

From Register, you can add or delete loyalty points for a customer who is enrolled in your loyalty program.  

 

Note: This feature is currently only available on iOS Register. The feature is coming soon for Android Register.  
  1. Go to Back Office > Customers.  
  2. Select the customer.  
  3. Select the Loyalty tab.  
  4. Select the pencil icon to open the edit menu.

  1. Enter a value in the points field.

  1. Select Done.  
  2. Select Add Points to add the designated points to the account or select Remove Points to remove the designated points from the account.  
  3. The Current Balance displays the updated point amount.  
  4. Select Save.
