How Surcharging works
- When surcharging is enabled on your talech Terminal account, you will simply process an order as usual and select Pay.
- Tap credit/debit card as the payment method, then select Charge.
- You will then see the tip screen, where the customer can select the tip amount. Any tip entered here will be subject to the subsequent surcharge.
- The option to accept or decline the surcharge will appear on the device.
- If the customer accepts the surcharge, they will be charged. If they decline, the transaction will cancel for the merchant to select a different payment method.
Refunds and Surcharges
Refunds work the same when your customer has incurred a surcharge as without one.
- Select Orders from the talech Terminal dashboard.
- Select the transaction for which the customer wishes to perform the refund, then select the item or items.
- Continue to the confirmation screen. The surcharge amount won't show on this screen.
- You will only see the surcharge added to the final refund screen as seen below.
