These guides cover talech Register and related POS equipment. Paytura is your merchant services partner; talech provides the register software and device support referenced in these articles.
The Poynt C is a handheld device that can function as a POS or as a card reader. It runs on a modified Android operating system, has a built-in printer and small customer-facing display. It has a charging dock that slots into place under the printer component.
- Ensure that your Poynt C is fully charged.
- Ensure that you have a Wi-Fi network that you can connect to.
Unpack and initial set up
- Unpack your Poynt C.
- Make sure that the device is fully charged.
- Place the Poynt C device in the charging dock. It has a magnetic connection that should snap it into place when oriented in the dock correctly.
- Take the charging cord and plug the USB-C end into the Poynt C charging dock’s USB-C port.
- Plug the other end into a power outlet.
- Once fully charged, power on your Poynt C device by holding the power button for 3-6 seconds.

- Select your language.
- Set up your network connection.
- If using a SIM card, set up the mobile network. If using Wi-Fi, skip this step.
- If using Wi-Fi, set up your Wi-Fi network.

- Select your Wi-Fi and then enter the Wi-Fi password.
- Select Connect.
- Activate the device using the provided 2D code and the Poynt C device’s camera.
- If you don’t have a 2D code, select Acquirer.
- Input your
- Merchant ID.
- Input your Terminal ID.
- Log in to your Poynt account.
If you are using the Poynt C as a complete point-of-sale solution:
- You should be able to see the talech app from the Poynt menu screen. Select the talech Register app icon and sign into your store account.
If you do not see the talech Register app, please reach out to our team so we can arrange for the install to be carried out. The serial number of the device is required for assistance and is typically found on the side of the device on a white sticker, or underneath the device.
The device will need to be connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network for our team to facilitate this; it cannot be done on an LTE/4G connection. Once installed, the LTE/4G connection can take over for use of the app.

Card readers
There are three card readers on the Poynt C: A chip reader, swipe reader, and contactless payment.
Chip reader
The chip reader is located on the top of the customer facing display.
Swipe reader
The swipe reader is also located on the top of the customer facing display under the chip reader.
Contactless payment
Tap on the bottom of the customer facing display to use the contactless payment option.

Connect to the mC-Print3 receipt printer
The Poynt C is compatible with the Star Micronics mC-Print3 receipt printer.
- Use the included USB cable to connect the USB-C end into the printer and the USB-A end into one of the USB ports on the Poynt C base.
- Connect the Poynt C device to the base.
- Accept any permissions pop-ups that appear asking to allow the USB connection. You are now ready to print!
| Note: To use the printer, the Poynt C must be connected to the dock. Printing does not work if the device is being held remotely away from the base. |
Charging dock
The charging dock includes the following ports: Ethernet, cash drawer, 2 USB ports, and USB-C power port.
Sim card
There is a sim card slot located on the side of the Poynt C device with a carrier tray. Insert a precision tool or paper clip into the small hole to gently pull open the slot.
