This article is designed to guide you through setting up your Socket CHS barcode scanner for use with your talech Register.
The Socket 7Ci barcode scanner connects to the iPad via Bluetooth and uses rechargeable batteries. The scanner can read manufacturer bar codes and bar codes created through talech.

Preparing your Socket barcode scanner
This section provides step-by-step instructions on setting up your Socket CHS Barcode Scanner.
- Unpack your Socket Scanner.
- Unlock the battery enclosure by turning the lock to a horizontal position with a thin coin or a flat-head screwdriver.
- Lift the back and insert the batteries that came with the scanner and re-lock the battery enclosure.
- If the battery is already inserted, please move on to the next step.
- Charge the scanner for 5 hours with the wall adapter charger. The light on the scanner turns green once it’s done.
Connecting the Socket scanner
This section provides a step-by-step guide on how to connect the Socket CHS mobile scanner.
- Power the Scanner on by holding the small power button above the scanner's silver logo.
- The Scanner should beep, and a Green Light will appear on top. The scanner will automatically enter pairing mode.
- Select iPad Settings from the iPad.
- Select Bluetooth Settings.
- Look for Socket CHS ###### under 'Other Devices' and select it to being pairing.
- The Scanner should then move to 'Devices' and show Connected.
- It is now ready to use in the talech register.
Unpairing the Socket scanner
This section provides a step-by-step guide on how to connect the Socket CHS mobile scanner.
- While the scanner is powered on, hold down the Power button and Scan Trigger at the same time. The scanner should beep 4 times and turn off.
- Navigate to the iPad's Bluetooth settings and look for Socket CHS ######. It should show Not Connected.
- To the right of Not Connected, select the blue circle with an "I". Next, select Forget this Device.
Resetting the Socket scanner
- Power on the Socket Scanner.
- Press and hold down the trigger button and momentarily press the power button while still holding down the trigger button.
- After 15 seconds, the scanner will beep. Release the trigger button.
- The scanner will beep 5 times and power off.
- The next time you power on the scanner, it will take longer than normal. After the scanner finishes powering on, it will have factory default settings.
- If nothing is populating inside the talech app when scanning a barcode, scan the factory reset barcode below. For the factory reset, you can also scan the following:

- Scan the Basic Mode (HID)-Keyboard Barcode. This barcode is found in the small manual that the merchant receives with the scanner.
