Printers have a variety of settings that can be configured to fit your business needs. Available settings vary slightly depending on whether you are using an Android or iPad device with your Elavon Register software. This article will outline the various settings and which device they are available on.

General printer settings

To access global printer settings, navigate to the Back Office > Settings > Printers > Advanced

 

Customer receipt settings.

Print Order Tickets after Payment or Save 
After Save Order: Once an order is saved, a kitchen ticket will print automatically. 
After Payment: Once an order is closed, a kitchen ticket will print automatically.

Print Order Tickets for Voids 
When enabled this will print a ticket when an order is voided.

Send Order Tickets by Category 
Send items to the kitchen by category.

Group items on the receipt
This setting makes the receipt read ‘Bruschetta x3’ instead of ‘Bruschetta’ three times.

Android: Order ticket exclusion list for this device
Shows a list of available printers. Tapping on a printer leaves a check mark which blocks the iPad from sending receipts to that printer.

 Specific printer settings

You can also modify the settings for a specific printer allowing you to customize how it behaves.  

Navigate to Back Office > Settings Printers > select the name of the printer you want to modify.

 

Tip! If you aren’t certain which printer is which, tap on the name and perform a test print. This will identify which printer you are modifying.

Auto detect automatically enters the IP. You can enter an IP address if you're manually creating a printer.

Order ticket printing: advanced settings

These settings typically apply to Kitchen printers and determine how an order should appear on a docket. To modify these settings, navigate to Back Office > Settings > Printers > select the name of the printer > Advanced Settings under Order Ticket Printing

By toggling these options on and off, you can scroll on the right of the screen to see a preview of what your order docket would look like (on iPad only).

Print On Add Item To Order 
Enabling this option will make the printer print a slip every time an item is added to an order.

iPad: Print Product Short Name
Android: Print the abbreviated product name
If a product has a short name, it will be printed on the kitchen receipt.

Android: Print the items separately  
Prints each item on a receipt into separate, smaller slips.

Hide Server Name 
Hides the name of the server on the ticket.

Prints the order notes associated with the whole order on the order ticket.

Group Items On Receipt 
This combines all of the same items together, even if they are added at different times, to make preparing the food easier.

Choose how the modifiers appear on your order. You can choose from Show All, Hide Defaults, Hide Defaults and Unpriced, or Hide All.

Only available for Impact Printers. All modifiers will print in Red.

Allows you to print multiple quantities of the same item separately, or as one line with a specified quantity.

These settings apply to your customer receipt printer and determine how an order should appear on a receipt. To modify these settings, navigate to Back Office > Settings > Printers > select the name of the printer > Advanced Settings under Receipt Printing
