Equipment Help (talech) FAQ

This article explains enabling contactless dining and enhancing the experience for your guests. With URL parameters, you can enhance order options by providing a custom link to direct guests to your Online Ordering site.   

The contactless dining enhancements are built into our existing Online Ordering platform. You must have Online Ordering enabled to use these features. 

In this article 

  • Enable online ordering   
  • Create and edit order type settings   
  • Create an order type 2D code   
  • Create a table 2D code   

Enable online ordering 

  1. Log in to talech.com.  
  2. Navigate to Website > Online Ordering.  
  3. Toggle Enable Online Ordering to ON.  
  4. Select Save.

Create and edit order type settings   

  1. Login to talech Register and navigate to Back Office > Settings > Order Types.   
  2. To create an Order Type, select the blue plus button.  
  3. To edit an Order Type:   
  • Assign an Order Type Name.   
  • Choose a Color for the Order Type.  
  • Order Settings: (Require Customer Name, Require Table, Require Guest Count).

Create an order type 2D code   

Merchants can create a specific URL parameter at the end of their Online Ordering URL. This URL parameter can be created to take a customer to a default Order type.

Acceptable Order Type:   

  • Dine-in   
  • Pickup    
  • Delivery    
  • Curbside    
  • [custom order type name]   
Important! URL parameters are added to the end of URLs, after a question mark. Follow the steps below to create a direct Order Type URL.
  1. Take your base website URL. Example: https://www.talech.com/biz/ordering/123456/ABC-Store  
  2. Add default Order Type parameters to the URL. Example:   
Note: Your order type parameter '?orderType=...' should come before '#/menu' (which doesn't need to be included for your 2D codes).
  1. Visit an online '2D Code Generator'.   
  2. Paste URL in the Generator.   
  3. Download the resulting 2D code.   
  4. Print and place 2D codes where needed.    
Important! If your custom order type has a space in it, please remove the space character. For example, 'Patio Pickup' should be truncated to 'patiopickup'.

Create a table 2D code  

Merchants can include the table number field in the URL field to print a unique 2D code for each table to streamline the ordering process. To accomplish this, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Take your base website URL.  

Example: https://www.talech.com/biz/ordering/123456/ABC-Store  

  1. Add table parameters to the URL to suit your needs.  

Example: https://www.talech.com/biz/ordering/123456/ABC-Store?ordertype=dinein&table=3)   

  1. Visit an online '2D Code Generator'.   
  2. Paste URL in the Generator.   
  3. Download the resulting 2D code.   
  4. Print and place where needed.
